The moment I left them, my mind switched to work mode. I couldn't sit around and do nothing. I also couldn't keep waiting for Nyx to feed breadcrumbs of information. The first place I decided to make my stop was the library. I don't know why, but it was the first place my brainurgedo go to. I wasn't expecting anything; after all, what could I find here that Raven and the elders couldn't find? They had combed through the entire library, and they still got nothing of substance. Walking through the hallways, my mind wandered to all the missing pieces. There was so much that we didn't know. So many unanswered questions. A lot was going on that seemed bigger than us. The question that has been nagging me, though, is where Nyx fits into all this. She has urged me to train harder since I first shifted. Always pushing to grow stronger, be faster, and react quickly. Even now, since my powers awakened, it's been the thing. She wouldn't be pushing this hard if she were not preparing for something. Given everything that is currently happening, it all points towards her preparing for war. Seeing that her sister is making hybrids, it is safe to say that she is building an army. That she's preparing for the thing So the question remains, why are two sisters preparing for war against each other? Why would they want to hurt each other? They were twins for fuck's sake. It didn't make any sense whatsoever. They should be closer than thieves, yet there was serious animosity between them. And where is their mother? Given how old I asamher mother should be dead, right? But the fact that Nyx and Xena are alive shows there is a possibility their mom is alive too. So where is she? And does she know anything about the ongoing beef between her daughters? I push the door to the library once I get there. Lucky for me, it was empty, and that suited just fine. I move along the rows of shelves and walk towards those that contain books that date way back. When I get there, I scan through them, picking up the ones that I feel might contain a sliver of answers. By the tI am done, both my hands are full of books. I walk to one of the tables, drop them on the table, and take a seat. I grabbed the first book and began reading, looking for any information or any kind of clue. I'd gone through at least two boo, ks and I still hadn't found anything. There wasn't any information apart from the basic information. How were werewolves to be? How is this package to be? The different gods and goddesses. There was honestly nothing in those two books that I didn't already know about. I shut the book with a frustrated sigh and leaned back against my chair. There had to be something. Anything that could give pointers? Closing my eyes, I take a calming breath. I tried clearing my mind before I could dive back into the books, but the only thought that kept circling my mind was Xena and Kaden. My eyes snapped wide open as a mixture of complicated feelings filled me. Rubbing my chest, I tried to ease the discomfort that was wreaking havoc inside me. There was fear, hurt, and betrayal. Those names, whether separately or together, brought those emotions. I gasped as intense sorrow filled my heart and soul. It overshadowed every other emotion, and I struggled to keep breathing. I held on to the table for support. Gripping it tightly. Using it as my tether to the real world. / Why the hell was I feeling this way? Why was it so overwhelming? My question was answered a few moments later when I heard her soft voice. "Sadie?" I feel her stirring inside me. The distraction from finally having her here gthechance I need to pull myself from the edge of the abyss. "Nyx," I breathed in relief. "You are finally here. Where have you been?" "Around," she muttered in a noncommittal tone. Her attitude rubbed the wrong way. I was so tempted to call her out for it, but stopped. I needed answers, and aggravating her would ensure I didn't get that. She would instead just put back her mental blocks. "Are you ready to talk?" I asked after taking a deep breath to calm down my irritation. "Depends on what we are talking about," she answered quietly. Her voice was too soft. It's only then that I hear the fatigue in her voice. fatigue in the "Where have you been?" I asked again, this time with a gentle voice. We do have our ups and downs, and she can be a major bitch and a pain in the ass, but she was still my wolf. I loved and cared for her even on the days she drove crazy. Belongs to. With a sigh, she answered. "Training, I need to make sure I am in top shape, and so do you. We have to win." "Win against your sister, Xena, right?" "How did you know her name?"
