Donovon Lin's House.
Lachlan Lin sat there, sipping his tea. He had come specifically for a particular project.
The agarwood in the room emitted a delightful fragrance.
"Dad, our partnership with Mr. Huang is crucial for the Lin family," Donovan Lin remarked as he prepared the tea.
"Indeed, it is. This collaboration will help elevate our Lin family to new heights," Lachlan Lin responded cheerfully. "How is the progress on this project so far?"
"No issues at all. Damian Lin went to finalize the contract today," Donovan Lin replied confidently. "Your grandson will not disappoint you."
Lachlan Lin nodded in satisfaction. The men of the Lin family were known for their excellence.
"Dad!" Damian Lin burst into the room, his expression less than pleasant. However, upon seeing that Lachlan Lin was present, he suddenly hesitated and didn't dare to speak further.
"We were about you discussing you," Donovan Lin said, waving a hand. "Grandpa wants to know, how is the project with Mr. Huang progressing. Has the contract been signed?"
Damian Lin glanced at Lachlan Lin, growing even more anxious and hesitant.
"This project..."
Seeing his hesitation to speak, Donovan Lin's expression suddenly darkened, and a sense of foreboding gripped his heart.
"I went, but Mr. Huang wasn't available today due to some business. He asked me to come back and sign tomorrow," Damian Lin explained courageously.
Damian knew that if his grandfather found out he'd messed up the project, he'd be in deep trouble.
"Mr. Huang comes from a tough background and has always had an arrogant temperament. If I were you, I'd be patient and wait," Lachlan Lin said with a reassuring smile.
"Yes, Grandpa, I'll do as you say," Damian Lin replied, steeling himself.
Donovan Lin sensed that something was amiss, but he held his silence. When the old man returned, he summoned Damian Lin to his study, and his face grew completely dark.
"What happened?" he demanded, his anger palpable. "If you dare to hide anything from me again, I'll be furious!"
"Dad," Damian Lin protested with a heavy heart, "this isn't my fault!"
"It's Agatha Lin!" he exclaimed angrily. "Mr. Huang insisted that he had only signed a contract with Agatha Lin and that the others weren't even qualified to meet him. They kicked me out!"
Hearing this, Donovan Lin's expression soured. His own son, expelled?
"That Agatha Lin must have had an affair with this man named Huang; otherwise, how else could this situation have turned out?" Damian Lin grumbled, his frustration evident.
"The man named Huang said that if Agatha Lin hadn't signed, they'd cancel the project. Mr. Huang didn't care," Damian Lin muttered under his breath.
He might not care, but the Lin family certainly did.
"Do you have any idea how much the Lin family has invested in this project?" Donovan Lin's face darkened, his anger simmering. "If this project fails, I won't be the only one wanting to beat you to death; your grandfather will too!"
Damian Lin's face paled instantly. "What should we do?" he asked urgently. He had hoped to reap the benefits, but now he found himself holding a hot potato.
"What to do?" Donovan Lin scolded angrily. "Who told you to fire Agatha Lin in the first place? You're the CEO! Now the project is in ruins, and we're both in trouble!"
Damian Lin bit his lip but didn't dare to speak out. It was clear that he had been the one to fire Agatha Lin.
"Get Agatha Lin back to sign this project," Donovan Lin shouted. "Once it's signed, let her go!"
"Do you think she'll agree?" Damian Lin asked cautiously.
"Call her right now!" Donovan Lin's tone brooked no argument.
Damian Lin's Adam's apple bobbed nervously as he pulled out his cell phone and dialed Agatha Lin's number, but there was no answer.
Agatha Lin had no desire to answer their calls at the moment.
"Dad, she's not picking up. What should we do now?"
"What do we do?" Donovan Lin sneered. "It appears this girl is quite resolute. It seems we'll have to pay her a visit in person."
If this project weren't of paramount importance, he wouldn't want to deal with the trio comprising Jasper Lin's family.
No, it was now a quartet, including the eccentric son-in-law who paid visits.
Agatha Lin was no longer in the running for a share of the Lin family's wealth, and he didn't wish to associate with this group of underachievers. But for the moment, he didn't have a choice.
Donovan Lin promptly took Damian Lin and drove to Agatha Lin's home.
Before long, the two arrived at the rundown Hwaseong district. Observing the surroundings, Donovan Lin frowned and walked cautiously, careful not to soil his pants.
"This is it," Damian Lin pointed to a door.
They rarely ventured into such neighborhoods.
Although the Lin family was wealthy, all their assets were controlled by the elderly patriarch, Lachlan Lin.
The sons working in the Lin Group received salaries and dividends, nothing more.
However since Jasper Lin became disabled, his ability to work had diminished, and his financial situation had deteriorated. Despite having a place to live, the old man still showed some sympathy for him.
Knock, knock, knock!
Damian Lin rapped on the door with force.
"Coming, coming! Why are you knocking so loudly?" Cara Su's voice sounded from inside.
As she opened the door, she was taken aback to find Donovan Lin and his son standing there, her expression darkening immediately.
"Why are you here?"
"We're looking for Agatha Lin," Donovan Lin said calmly, pushing past Cara Su to enter the premises. "Where is she?"
"She's not here," Cara Su replied bluntly. "What do you want with her?"
"Agatha Lin!" Donovan Lin ignored Cara Su and called out directly. "Uncle is here. Why don't you come out and greet him?"
Inside the house, Agatha Lin heard the commotion but didn't expect them to come knocking on her door.
Over the years, even during her father's disability, Donovan Lin had never paid them a visit. So why was he here today?
"Come on, let's go out," Orion Jiang urged Agatha Lin, pulling her along as they headed outside.
Donovan Lin greeted Agatha Lin with a smile when he saw her coming out. "Agatha Lin, are you still upset with Uncle?"
Agatha Lin remained silent.
"The situation with the company's decision to let you go was all a misunderstanding," Donovan Lin continued, a trace of indifference crossing his face. "Now the company requires you to return and sign the contract with Mr. Huang. If you truly wish to leave the company, you can do so after the contract is signed."
Upon hearing this, Agatha Lin's body trembled violently. They fired her when they no longer needed her, but now that she was needed, they came to find her. What did they take her for? Just a tool? To be discarded after use?
Cara Su, who was standing nearby, also grasped the situation. Donovan Lin and his son had indeed fired Agatha Lin, and she had been completely unaware.
"Brother, what are you implying? What do you think of Agatha Lin? What do you think of our family?" Cara Su demanded.
She was seething with anger.
"Auntie, your family is truly worthless," Damian Lin sneered.
"Only Agatha Lin has any value now. Otherwise, I wouldn't even bother setting foot in this run-down place of yours."
"You..."
Cara Su's face flushed with rage, and she raised her hand as if to slap Damian Lin.
"You dare to try it!" Donovan Lin thundered with authority.
"Do you, an elderly woman like yourself, dare to lay a hand on a member of the Lin family?"
Cara Su bit her lip, feeling deeply humiliated by being called an elderly woman.
"Clap, clap, clap!" Applause suddenly rang out.
Damian Lin covered his face in disbelief. Orion Jiang had intervened again.
"Who gave you the audacity to insult my mother-in-law?" Orion Jiang stepped forward, his voice calm but forceful.
"Show some respect when seeking assistance. Hasn't your father taught you that?"
