chapter 13 I bought it

by Duke 14:15,Sep 28,2023
Agatha Lin rushed to the finance department, where the sound of the POS machine processing orders could already be heard.
"Miss, the total price is 487,000. I will assist with the transaction and provide you with stickers and fuel cards," the female salesperson declared, her excitement evident.
She hadn't expected to secure a sale so swiftly after starting her job.
Selling a BMW car equated to a substantial commission per transaction.
She handed both the invoice and the bank card to Agatha Lin with trembling hands. "Here are your cards and invoices. I will initiate the temporary license application process for you now. In the next few days, I will arrange the delivery of the car and obtain the official license plate for you."
Agatha Lin was utterly bewildered. She hadn't anticipated the saleswoman to act so swiftly.
Moreover, she couldn't fathom how Orion Jiang possessed such a large sum of money in his bank account—nearly half a million!
To think he had simply swiped the card without hesitation.
After two years of diligent work, Agatha Lin had amassed less than 50,000 yuan in savings.
Meanwhile, Orion Jiang, a former homeless man, had somehow acquired such a substantial sum of money.
Agatha Lin approached Orion Jiang, gazing at him as if he were some kind of enigma. She couldn't quite grasp that they had just purchased a car together.
Not only Agatha Lin but also several salesmen in the distance were filled with remorse.
It was clear that they had seen Orion Jiang enter first but hadn't extended a greeting.
Consequently, the new saleswoman had secured the advantage.
"Did he really buy it?" one salesperson couldn't help but inquire of the new employee.
"He did! It's incredible!" the saleswoman exclaimed excitedly. "I recognized the logo on that card online. It's a specially customized card with minimum deposit requirements!"
Was it 100 million or a billion?
A few salesmen even felt a lump in their throats, discreetly chiding themselves for their shortsightedness. They had undeniably missed out on a massive sale!
The saleswoman paid them no mind.
The commission she had earned would keep her elated for half a year.
She promptly arranged for the car's delivery and the issuance of a temporary license plate.
Meanwhile, Agatha Lin pursed her lips, growing increasingly perplexed by Orion Jiang.
"How many secrets are you keeping from me?" she queried.
"Not many. I'll tell you later," Orion Jiang replied, puzzled by Agatha Lin's reaction. Why wouldn't she be thrilled by the purchase of a car worth hundreds of thousands of yuan?
"Take a seat and get a feel for it," he suggested, opening the car door and inviting Agatha Lin inside.
Sinking into the plush seat, Agatha Lin couldn't shake the sensation that she was in a dream; everything felt unreal.
"Sir, the temporary license has been processed. I will begin the official license application process in the next couple of days. Just return to the dealership when the time comes. If you need any assistance, please feel free to contact me," the saleswoman offered politely, leaning over to place her business card prominently in the car.
"Can we drive away?" Orion Jiang inquired.
"That's it."
"What about my electric car?" Agatha Lin suddenly remembered her electric bike, which had been with her for two years.
"No more," Orion Jiang replied curtly, uninterested in discussing the matter any further. He got into the driver's seat and started the car, preparing to leave.
As they watched Orion Jiang drive off, the saleswoman's face still bore a faint blush.
This was the first time she had encountered such a wealthy customer.
Buying a BMW seemed as commonplace as buying groceries to him.
Furthermore, Orion Jiang exuded an effortlessly charming, uncle-like charisma, which left quite an impression.
Several other salesmen felt dejected and regretful, but there was little they could do now.
They could only blame themselves for their oversight. They had truly paid a high price for their lack of foresight.
They were the fools in this situation!
Orion Jiang drove the car while Agatha Lin sat in the passenger seat. She couldn't resist running her fingers over the leather interior and admiring the opulent dashboard.
Her mind was racing, contemplating how to explain this sudden upgrade to her parents. How could she go from riding an electric bike to returning home in a BMW?
"Orion Jiang, you're not an ordinary person, are you?" Agatha Lin finally couldn't contain her curiosity. It was implausible for an average person to casually spend half a million on a car.
"Where did you get all this money? If you're so wealthy, why would you bother participating in the Lin family's son-in-law selection and become the laughingstock?" A myriad of questions tumbled from her lips.
"No, have you ever heard of the Beggar Clan? Our Beggar Clan is quite wealthy," Orion Jiang responded nonchalantly.
Agatha Lin's expression froze for a moment, but she quickly discerned that Orion Jiang was teasing her.
"Seriously!"
"The doctor told me I have a sensitive stomach and should stick to a soft diet, so I came to see you," Orion Jiang added with a smile.
Agatha Lin didn't press for more details. She knew that this enigmatic man wouldn't divulge the truth. However, in just two days, Orion Jiang had managed to shock her even more than before.
She couldn't fathom how this man, who had posed as a homeless individual to marry her, could hold such wealth.
The questions continued to multiply in her mind: Why had he taken on this facade? What drove him to do this to himself?
In the Hwaseong district, Agatha Lin's family had resided for a decade. They had moved there after Jasper Lin's car accident had left him disabled.
At that moment, Cara Su was pushing Jasper Lin's wheelchair, and the two of them were out in the sun. Both seemed deep in thought, their conversation absent.
"Cara Su, you're out in the sun again," a neighbor greeted from a distance. "I heard that Agatha Lin got married. Is it true that your son-in-law is living with you now?"
The neighbor's aunt's tone had made Cara Su feel uncomfortable, and she forced a smile, reluctant to respond.
Having a son-in-law at home was not a source of pride for her, but in just two days, the whole community seemed to know about it, and it was rather embarrassing.
"Let's go back," Jasper Lin sighed, wanting to avoid further discussion.
"Going back already? It's not time to cook yet, and you can enjoy the sun a bit longer."
The neighbor's aunt approached, her tone more insistent. "You know, for such a happy occasion, you should share some candies with the neighbors to celebrate. Come on, taste some."
She couldn't resist probing further, "What does your son-in-law look like? What's his background? He must be quite wealthy!"
After all, the Lin family was well-regarded in the community, even if they weren't as prosperous as their eldest brother, they were still considered successful. Cara Su's expression darkened: "What does it matter to you?"
The neighbor's aunt frowned when she heard Cara Su's response. "Why are you getting upset? I'm just asking. You found a son-in-law who came to your doorstep; you can't blame me for being curious."
Of course, she asked the question knowing quite well the details of this significant event in the Lin family.
Agatha Lin was such a beautiful daughter, and she had chosen a son-in-law who seemed to be an unemployed vagrant, ten years older than her!
What kind of judgment did the Lin family exercise to select such a son-in-law?
"You..."
Cara Su was furious, her face flushed.
"Why are you getting mad? As parents, aren't you worried about your own daughter? Can't I ask?" The neighbor's aunt continued to tease, enjoying the discomfort she was causing.
Cara Su was infuriated and decided to leave, not wanting to engage with her annoying neighbor any further.
"You're insufferable!"
"Why don't you consider getting rid of that son-in-law who came to you and let me introduce someone else to you?" The neighbor's aunt chased after her with a self-satisfied smile.
"Dudu—"
Suddenly, a brand new BMW pulled through the community gate and parked right in front of the neighbor's aunt.
Its pearly white paint glistened in the sun, nearly blinding her.
Before she could react, Agatha Lin and Orion Jiang stepped out of the car.
"Mom," Agatha Lin called out.
The neighbor's aunt was instantly dumbfounded. "Is this... your car?"
She couldn't believe her eyes. She had seen this car before—it was a dowry at a relative's wedding, costing half a million!
She vividly remembered the proud expressions on her relatives' faces when they received it.
Agatha Lin glanced at Orion Jiang, unsure how to respond. It was actually Orion Jiang who had purchased the car, not her.
"I bought it for her," Orion Jiang stated plainly.
The neighbor's aunt's face paled. Orion Jiang had bought it? How could he, a man who had come to be their son-in-law, afford such a luxurious car?
"Orion Jiang bought it," Agatha Lin confirmed, blushing and feeling a bit embarrassed. "He said it was too cold when I rode my bike to work in the morning."
Suddenly, the neighbor's aunt couldn't help but feel a pang of jealousy. Was it simply because it was chilly in the morning?
Was it necessary to buy a luxury car worth hundreds of thousands for that reason?
