Chapter 9

*Lilith’s POV

It has been six weeks since Kosta has moved into my house, and things have been great.

We are waiting at the doctors to see how I have healed and to check on Mila

Kosta holds my hand and looks around the waiting room

While I look at my phone and read the emails, I have gotten from work. Mila is sleeping in my arms.

When the doctor calls my name, I stand up and walk to the doctor's room, and Kosta follows close behind

My doctor checks Mila first and takes Milas weight and all the things they check on babies. When the doctor is happy with Mila’s growth, she moves on to me

“So Lilith, how are you feeling?”

I smile

“I'm feeling pretty good. We have established a good routine, and I am coping with everything.”

The doctor writes all the notes down and then asks me to get up on the bed so she can check that my cervix has closed and healed properly

I see Kosta begin to squirm at the sight of the tools used to open my cervix so the doctor can get an examination thoroughly, and I begin to giggle

“Kosta, you can go outside if this makes you uncomfortable.”

He moves to where my head is and kisses my forehead

“I'm ok, Nic. I wasn't prepared for this”

My doctor laughs and shakes her head

“Men have it easy,” the doctor says as she finishes the examination

When she is satisfied with everything, she allows me to get dressed and gives me the all-clear to get back to normal activities

Kosta’s eyes light up, and I shake my head at him

“Not until I'm back on birth control, buddy.”

Kosta sighs and then looks at his hands

My doctor prescribes birth control, and we leave the office

When we get to the car, Kosta puts Mila in her car seat and then walks around to me and kisses me

“I'm so happy you have healed, baby.”

I chuckle and kiss him back

“That doesn't mean you get to have your way with me, Mr.”

He chuckles and opens up my car door

“We will see about that, Nic. I can be very persuasive.”

I get into the car and watch Kosta run around to his side of the car

When he is in the car, he looks over at me

“I want to take my girls out for lunch, and then I will show you how persuasive I am.”

I lean over and kiss him

“Is that so, Kosta?”

He nods, and then we begin to drive

I look out the window and watch the world go by

When we stop, I look to see where we are, and I smile. Kosta has taken us to a little cafe for lunch.

I go to take off my seatbelt, and Kosta stops me

“I'll be back, Nic. We are not eating here!”

I look at him, confused

“Where are we eating?”

He taps the side of his nose

“That's for me to know and you to find out.”

I cross my arms over my chest and give him my best puppy dog eyes, but it doesn't work. Kosta closes the door and walks into the cafe.

When Kosta comes out, he has a platter full of sandwiches and a mixture of meats, vegetables, and fruit and a bag full of different cakes

He puts them all in the back seat of the car then we drive to the following location

When we get to our destination, I am left breathless

We are at a beautiful national park with a picturesque waterfall

Kosta gets Mila out of the car and then comes to my door and opens it for me, and helps me out

I look at him, and he leans down and kisses me

“I want you both to myself, Nic.”

He passes Mila to me, and I walk to the edge of the water and admire the view

When I turn around, Kosta has set up a picnic blanket and all the foods he brought

When I see him, my breath catches

Kosta is down on one knee, holding up a small box

“Lilith, since the first day I saw you in English class, I knew you were the one I wanted to be with for the rest of my life!! Will you do me the honour of becoming my wife?”

I don't have any words, so I stand on the spot and nod like an idiot

Kosta stands up and walks towards me, and takes me in his arms and kisses me

“I take the nods as a yes.”

I chuckle

“Yes, Kosta, yes, yes, I will marry you.”

Kosta takes the ring from the box and places it on my finger. I look down at the ring and smile

Kosta lifts my chin so I can see his eyes, and then he kisses me again

This time it's a toe-curling kiss that makes me feel every emotion that he feels when he pulls away; he takes Mila from my arms and kisses her on the top of the head

Then he takes my hand and leads me to the picnic blanket, and I sit down. Kosta sits behind me, so I am in between his legs, and I lean back and rest my head on his chest; Kosta places Mila on my chest, and we sit like that for a while, enjoying the peace and tranquillity of the waterfalls.

I feel Kosta move, and then a sandwich comes into view

“We have to eat, Nic, because I have more surprises up my sleeve.

I take a bite of my sandwich and try to think about what this man has to install for me

But I can't think of anything.

So I wait for him to make the next move.

*Kosta’s POV*

I didn't plan on proposing so soon but today seemed right, and I knew I had made a good decision bringing her to the waterfalls

Seeing Lilith’s eyes light up made my heart full.

I haven't told Nic that we have been getting threats from my ex-wife. I don't want to stress her, but I know sooner or later I will have to tell her.

But for now, we are safe and sound.

When we finish lunch, I pack up the picnic and take the leftovers and blanket to the trunk of the car

Then I help Lilith put Mila in the car, and we go to our next destination

I drive for about an hour, but we arrive at a nice little cabin on a lake for the weekend

I wanted to spoil Lilith and show her how I wanted our lives to be.

When we get out of the car, I pick up Lilith and Mila then carry them to the door of the cabin

And we go inside

I place Nic on her feet, and she looks up at me and smiles

“This place is beautiful, but I don't have a change of clothes?”

I walk back out to the car and get the bags I had packed, then bring them into the cabin

“I may have been planning this, Nic, and I don't plan on us wearing many clothes.”

Lilith’s face goes red, and she turns away from me

“I'm not ready, Kosta. That last night we had together was my first time, and my body has changed since then. What if you don't like what you see?”

I walk up behind her and wrap my arms around her and Mila

“Lilith, I love your body regardless of the changes.”

She leans back into me and blows out a breath of relief, but I can tell she is still anxious

“Kosta, I want you, but I am also scared, so don't pressure me.”

I kiss her temple and hold her tighter

“No pressure, baby. I will let you take the lead.”

She turns in my arms and kisses me

“Thank you for understanding, Kosta. “
