chapter 4 Wife looks like a housekeeper

Aaron didn't speak further.
He didn't know whether he assumed that human nature was far more complex or that Siran's idea of human nature was too uncomplicated.
He needed to rethink this question.
As if Aaron didn't want to believe that Siran was supporting him without any reason, he reminded her again,
"Siran, aren't you afraid that this money will be wasted? What if I can't earn them back?"
Siran pondered for a second, stating,
"Even if that happens, it's my choice."
"I chose to marry and live with you, so I should believe you."
"If I make the wrong choice, I should bear the consequences."
"Everyone should be responsible for their actions, isn't it?"
Aaron was quiet once again.
"Mr. Shang, I don't need you to be filthy rich or for you to rebuild your business and earn a ton. But you have to snap out of this and act like the head of the family, okay?"
Siran's words seemed encouraging and admonishing at the same time.
"So, from today onward, you should stop thinking that you are the boss of a company and you have to work hard. If you become depressed and decadent because of the bad experience, I have my ways to make you listen to me."
"Are you controlling my life now?" Aaron smiled.
Siran became serious. "This is not about control. Although I prepared for the worst, I don't want actually to see my 100, 000 yuan go to waste, so I have to keep an eye on you."
Aaron smiled and continued eating his noodles.
He suddenly realized that the bowl of egg noodles in clear soup was not as unpalatable as he thought.
After eating a few mouthfuls of noodles, he said to Siran, "You don't have to lend me the 100,000 yuan. A buddy of mine just sent me a WeChat message. He had already sent the money to my company."
Siran raised her head, "Are you serious?"
"Yes." Aaron continued to eat the noodles.
"Then your buddy is quite reliable. You should thank him later."
"However," she added, "you should use my 100,000 yuan to settle the matter first. After all, borrowing your buddy's money means you will owe him a favor."
Aaron finished the meal and put down his bowl and cutlery. "It's okay. We've been friends for many years. You can keep your money. It's not easy to save money anyways."
Siran also finished eating. She stood up to clean the table. "Then, let me know anytime if you need the money."
After cleaning up, the two of them went about their business.
Siran comforted and encouraged Aaron again before they parted ways.
She had just gone out on her electric scooter, and she stopped specifically to send two WeChat messages to Aaron:
[I'm afraid you won't have enough money for transportation, so I just transferred 2000 yuan to you.]
[Everything will be fine. Fight on!]
Aaron furrowed his brows when he received Siran's messages.
No wonder she said her phone had no signal before she left the house, wanting to borrow Aaron's phone.
It turned out that she was afraid that he would not accept her WeChat transfer, so she purposely accepted the transaction on his behalf.
At this time, Aaron was already sitting in his Rolls-Royce.
To him, 2000 yuan was a peanut amount of money.
And it might not even be worth anything to Aaron.
But it was the first time Aaron, with a net worth of over eleven digits, felt burdened by a small amount of 2000 yuan.
He fell into deep thought again, looking at the WeChat dialog box with Siran and the transfer record of 2000 yuan.
Siran had a busy day at the office.
Musa reminded her that there was a company dinner at night before she left work in the afternoon.
He approached her and said, "Siran, you must bring your husband along today and show him to everyone. If not, it would be too disrespectful to everyone."
"Just in time. I feel like bringing my husband along, too." Siran took out her phone, "But let me ask him whether he is free or not."
Musa added deliberately, "You have just gotten married. It's one thing not to spread a feast and invite your guests. But if he doesn't show up later, it seems he doesn't really care about you."
It didn't matter to Siran whether Aaron cared about her or not.
She ignored Musa and went to the side to make a phone call.
If Aaron could come, she could formally introduce him to everyone, saving her more trouble after Musa confessed and harassed her.
If Aaron couldn't come, she wouldn't feel embarrassed or ashamed either.
Surprisingly, Aaron agreed to Siran's invitation.
At 6:40 p.m., Aaron appeared at No. 6, Lane 3.
He was carrying a chicken in a transparent bag in his left hand and some freshly picked fruits and vegetables in his right hand.
Because Mateo forced him to head into the fields to pick vegetables and urged him to head back to Siran's place, Aaron had some mud stains on his pants and leather shoes. He had no time to change, so that was how he appeared before Siran.
Siran looked at him. "Didn't I tell you we were heading out for a meal? Why did you purchase so much vegetables?"
"My dad raised the chicken and grew the vegetables." Aaron looked at her. "Does your company have a refrigerator? If so, we can leave these items here first."
"Siran, is this the man you had a flash marriage with?" Musa sized up Aaron, who had mud on his pants, and said jokingly, "Their family farms and raises chickens? Is he a farmer?"
Siran was not sure whether Mateo was a farmer.
All she knew was that Mateo's wife passed away seven years ago, and it gave Mateo a considerable blow. It was hard for him to be alone.
Aaron brought these vegetables and chicken over, and mud was on his trousers. It seemed that he had just helped out in the fields.
"What's wrong with being a farmer? Do you not eat the rice planted by them?" Siran immediately retorted to Musa in a frustrated manner.
"I don't mean to look down on farmers," Musa said with feigned kindness, "It's just that in this era, farmers have gone to work in cities, and those who stay in the rural areas can't make much money. I'm afraid that you will suffer if you stay with him."
"..."
"Also, you two were talking outside yesterday. Your husband's company went bankrupt, the bank seized his house and car, he is penniless, and he asked you for 100,000 yuan. Did I mishear this info, or are they true?"
"Did you eavesdrop on us yesterday?"
"What do you mean by eavesdropping? I just happened to bump into you guys!"
Musa continued his act of being a kind person.
"Siran, I'm afraid that you will be scammed. It's too much for him to ask 100,000 yuan from you on the first day of your marriage. Did he marry you because you are capable and earns well, and he wants you to support him financially?"
As he said that, Musa pretended to be worried as he gave Aaron a once-over.
"Siran, to put it nicely, it's called a flash marriage, and if I want to phrase it harshly, you married a man who relied on his wife financially. Why didn't you discuss it with Cara and me before you married him? See. Now, you've got yourself such an unreliable man."
Everyone around them began to chatter among themselves under Musa's lead.
"Oh. Siran is married to a man that needs her financial support."
"He is quite handsome. I can't tell that he is one of those men."
"What's so surprising about this? Nowadays, many pretty boys want to rely on women to make a living. He must have deceived Siran."
The people in the company gossiped about Aaron.
Initially, they thought he was tall and handsome and that Siran had married a perfect man. But now, every comment they had turned into negative ones.
Aaron ignored them.
He was at the top of the food chain. To him, these people were like a few ants crawling under his feet as he looked out at the scenery.
It was easy for him to end them.
But he didn't have the time to do so.
He just continued to admire his view.
He wanted to see Siran's reaction, so Aaron focused his gaze on Siran.
