Embarrassment filled Siran abruptly.
She didn't care whether Aaron was bankrupt or rich.
But Aaron was acting like Musa. He insisted on showing off but seemed unable to turn the tide, which left her speechless.
She looked at Aaron with disappointment.
At this time, the fat manager suddenly returned in a hurry, scanned the group waiting outside Hibiscus Pavilion, and finally fixed his gaze on Aaron.
Was this the big shot his boss told him he couldn't afford to offend?
The fat manager was unsure, even though Aaron's aura was oppressing and extraordinary.
Would a filthy rich big shot dine at their three-star hotel?
If so, it would be an honor to their hotel.
The fat manager approached Aaron cautiously, "Excuse me. Are you Mr. Shang?"
"Yeah," Aaron responded lightly.
The fat manager felt like he had been graced by the presence of an emperor, so he said respectfully,
"Mr. Shang, our boss just called and asked me to prepare the best private room for you. This way, please."
Musa, Siran and the dozens of employees were dumbfounded.
"Let's go and eat first." Aaron looked at the shocked Siran. She asked, "Aaron, do you know the owner of the hotel?"
Aaron replied, "Nope."
Everyone filed into the private room amid their shock and disbelief.
After sitting down, Musa suppressed the sarcastic remarks he had long prepared for Siran and Aaron amid the employees' discussions.
"Is this the most luxurious box in the Dingyue Hotel? It's so big, spacious and luxurious!"
"I heard that the minimum spending for this private room is more than 5,000 yuan, and there is also a 15% service fee. Will they waive the service fee for us later?"
"Of course. Haven't you seen the respectful way the hotel owner treated Siran's husband?"
Musa was unhappy as he glared at Aaron, who was moving Siran's chair for her.
"Aaron, the minimum spending for this private room is more than 5,000 yuan. It is not within the budget for our company dinner. Why don't you settle the bill later?"
The fat manager stated, "Mr. Shang, our boss said you can order whatever you want to eat or drink today. The bill will be on the house. Also, our boss is on his way over. He hopes you will spare him some time later because he wants to toast you in person."
Musa looked highly frustrated.
How did a person who came from a peasant background and was currently bankrupt and penniless deserve any sort of respect?
"Aaron." Siran gently tugged at the corner of Aaron's clothes, "What is your relationship with the owner of this hotel? Why does he respect you so much?"
Aaron handed her the menu. "Take a look at what you want to eat first and order whatever you want."
Siran was confused, so she wasn't in the mood to order.
Aaron reminded her, "Go ahead."
During the meal, the fat manager and several servers waited respectfully beside Aaron as if serving the emperor.
Meanwhile, the employees also asked Aaron some questions. Most of them were answered by Siran on behalf of Aaron, or Aaron responded to them with a few words.
As for Musa, his face was dark as they ate dinner.
The group was about to leave after they finished. Still, the fat manager respectfully persuaded them to stay, "Mr. Shang, our boss is stuck in a congestion. Can you wait for him for a few more minutes? He wants to see you in person, and it will only take a few minutes."
Aaron naturally knew the hotel owner was stuck in a traffic jam and what was his motive in wanting to meet him.
He pondered momentarily, looked at the fat manager's badge, and said, "Manager Xiao, let's speak privately."
Aaron took a few steps away, and the fat manager, Vic Xiao, followed him respectfully.
Aaron's words were concise and straightforward. "Manager Xiao, I am very grateful for the convenience provided by the hotel today. I will ask my secretary to come over to settle the bill later. If your boss has any difficulties in the future, you can ask him to talk to my secretary. I am in a hurry, so I won't thank him in person."
His statements made Vic understand that he could no longer force Aaron to stay around longer.
His boss had told him that it would be best if Vic could convince Aaron to stay.
But if he couldn't, Vic should gift the most expensive, high-quality wine in the hotel to Aaron.
So, Vic took a bottle of wine and forced Aaron to accept his gift.
After Aaron rejected him, he walked toward Siran.
"Did the fat manager try to force Siran's husband into accepting a bottle of wine?"
"That wine costs about 20,000 yuan per bottle. Not only did they let us eat for free, but also gave a bottle of premium wine to Siran's husband."
"Musa, you really shouldn't have laughed at Siran's husband just now. Look at the respectful way the hotel owner treats him!"
Feeling envious and frustrated, Musa snorted.
"What's so great about this? Can he change the fact that he is a bankrupt, destitute man just because someone highly respected him?"
Just then, Aaron returned.
Siran asked, "Aaron, what is your relationship with the owner of this hotel?"
Aaron responded casually, "The hotel owner is a friend of a friend of mine. He owes my friend a favor, and my friend owes me a favor."
So, the hotel owner did him this favor?
Siran thought Aaron's explanation was quite reasonable.
But she still felt like something was amiss.
What kind of indirect favor includes a meal worth thousands of yuan and for Aaron to be given a premium bottle of wine worth 20,000 yuan before he left?
Even though she was still feeling doubtful, Siran didn't want to probe further.
Maybe Aaron indeed had some personal connections before he went bankrupt.
"Mr. Chen."
At this time, Aaron, next to Siran, looked at Musa with an unsmiling expression.
"I remember someone mentioned before we ate that if I could get a private room, he would give everyone a live show on how to bark like a dog?"
Musa's face paled.
Not only was he humiliated, but he also felt like he had been slapped in the face.
He couldn't speak momentarily, wanting to find a crack in the ground and burrow into it.
"You don't need to show us how to bark like a dog."
Aaron's eyes were frosty.
"Don't bully Siran, for she is your business partner. She has someone backing her now."
Musa was unaware if Aaron knew that he confessed to Siran that he wanted to sleep with her.
If Aaron had known, maybe the feud would have started already.
"What else can I do to her? Eat her?" Musa said in a low voice, leaving dejectedly.
He was flustered and embarrassed.
On the way back, Siran initially wanted to ask Aaron about his personal connections.
But she gave up after some consideration.
She said gratefully, "Aaron, thank you for speaking up for me before Musa just now."
Aaron said lightly, "I just can't stand him."
"Whether you did what you did because you dislike him or want to help me, I still want to thank you." Siran didn't care about the real reason why Aaron helped her.
She took out her phone and sent a WeChat message to Cara, but the latter didn't reply.
In the past, she would have thought that Cara was too busy caring for the children, which was why she was unresponsive.
But from yesterday until now, Siran had sent many WeChat messages to her, but none got a reply from Cara.
Was she sick?
Or did something happen?
Siran was worried about her friend.
She'd have to call and ask.
She called Cara five times in a row, but no one answered.
Anxiety filled Siran, and she wondered whether she should head over to Cara's place to check on her.
"Don't you have questions for me?" Just then, beside Siran, Aaron asked.
She turned and looked at him. "What do you want me to ask?"
"For example, what happened in the hotel just now." Aaron stared at her.
"Didn't you tell me that a friend of your friend did this as a favor? What else should I ask?"
If this was the reason, it would be redundant for her to probe further.
If that was not the actual reason, and Aaron wanted to conceal the truth deliberately, there was no way Siran could get an answer from him.
So she decided not to ask.
Aaron hummed an agreement and said nothing more.
He was relaxed being around Siran. Aaron took out his phone, reviewed his email, and opened a document.
Meanwhile, Siran continued to call Cara.
The two stopped interacting with each other inside the car.
Back at the rental house, Aaron was still not used to the cramped and small space.
But he was not as resistant as yesterday.
It was just that he had a poor sleep last night being on the couch, and his sleep quality was significantly compromised.
Afraid that it would be difficult to fall asleep later, Aaron deliberately did a few sets of exercises in the living room while Siran went to take a bath.
Siran showered for half an hour, and he also exercised for half an hour.
Siran, who also loved exercise, came out and deliberately counted the different sets Aaron did behind him.
120 push-ups + 120 plank jumping jacks.
And Aaron didn't even take a breather.
His endurance level was unbelievable.
Moreover, his clothes were already soaked wet, and every lean and powerful muscle on his arms was covered with beads of sweat that accentuated his masculinity.
Aaron definitely didn't just do two sets of exercises.
He had a fantastic stamina!
Noticing that Aaron was getting up from the ground, Siran seemed to feel a little embarrassed and asked quickly, "Do you like to exercise, too?"
"I didn't sleep well last night." Aaron wiped away his sweat. "It's easier to fall asleep if I exercise."
Siran looked at the couch and said, "Are you not used to sleeping on the couch? Should I let you sleep in the bed?"
"There's no need for that," Aaron said directly, "There are mosquitoes in the living room, and they have been buzzing all night. Is there anything you can do about that?"
Siran thought awhile, "Let me give you some mosquito coils before you head to bed. The environment of the rental house is relatively poor, and there are no screens on the windows, so it's inevitable for mosquitoes to fly around in this situation."
"However," she added, "after the property I bought is handed over in a few days, and after the renovation is completed and air out for a few months, we can move into the new house."
"Have you bought a house?" Aaron asked.
Siran gave him an affirmative. "I bought it with a loan, and I have to pay a monthly sum of more than 10,000 yuan."
Aaron probed, "What kind of property?"
"It's not a well-known developer, and it's a small building. But the environment is definitely better than this urban village."
The housing prices in Peng City, even if developed by small developers, would cost a few million for one to own a house.
Even for the three down payments, one would have to pay one or two million upfront.
Siran was at the bottom of the societal rank, and Aaron was surprised she could afford a house in Peng City .
He said, "I have found a new job. When I get my salary, I will help you pay part of the monthly payment."
Siran didn't say anything.
They were now legally married, and if Aaron was willing to share her financial burdens, she would accept his offer.
When Aaron tucked in for the night, the mosquitoes were gone, but the overpowering smell of the mosquito coil kept Aaron from falling asleep for a long time.
Since he couldn't sleep, he pondered about his relationship with Siran.
After two days of interacting with her, Aaron found that he didn't dislike his relationship with Siran. Instead, he felt that Siran was different from most women he knew.
The following day, Siran got up early, like usual.
She saw that the clothes Aaron had changed out of last night were unwashed, so she helped him put them into the washing machine.
She washed his underwear by hand and prepared to dry them on the balcony.
When Aaron got up, he saw Siran holding his underwear in her hand, and he couldn't help but frown.
"Who told you to wash my underwear?" Aaron strode over, his face dark.
